PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene(Teflon)
A Fluoropolymer is used predominantly for its excellent chemical resistance. It has poor mechanical properties even under low weight. It is very suitable as a gasket material because its water absorption is very low. In addition, its mechanical strength is increased by various auxiliary (composite) materials (carbon, bronze, etc.).
FEATURES
Chemical : It shows very high chemical resistance like a typical fluoropolymer. Due to the molecular structure of the material, it does not enter into chemical reactions with any material and does not stick to products.
Mechanical : Mechanical elements; properties such as tensile strength and compressive strength are weak. Especially the bedding possibility is very low.
It has very high resistance to low (down to -200°C) and high temperatures (up to 260°C) and UV rays.
It has low flammability.
The surface is slippery thanks to the low coefficient of friction.
Color : Natural
Weak point
It has extremely poor mechanical properties.
APPLICATION
Chemical : the main feature of fluoropolymers is their very high chemical resistance to alkali. PTFE is used for parts in the petrochemical and chemical industries.
Food contact : Suitable for food contact. (Requirements vary in some countries.)
Electricity : It has very good dielectric, self-extinguishing and external environment (continuous contact with air) properties.
Mechanical : It is slippery thanks to its low coefficient of friction, but it is not resistant to friction. It is suitable for bearing, provided that it works under low loads.

This graph indicates that PVDF has better mechanical properties than PTFE. Also, PVDF is more economical than PTFE because its density is lower than PTFE.
A: dimensional stability
B: compressive strength
C: density
