PEEK - Polyetheretherketone
The material is a semi-crystalline polymer and shows high mechanical and thermal properties (up to 240 ° C). It has a high resistance to creep and wear under load and also has a low coefficient of friction (resistance to friction). It has high heat resistance under load. With this feature, it is superior to Teflon (PTFE) material.
FEATURES
High temperature: It pushes above 240 ° C. The temperature at which it starts to decompose from the stable state is 162 ° C.
It is dimensionally stable.
It shows good chemical resistance.
It has good wear resistance and low coefficient of friction.
Electrical isolation is possible.
Weak point:
High cost
The carrier load strength decreases above 140 ° C.
UV resistance is low.
APPLICATION
Mechanical: Dimensional stability is high when the temperature is high. The components obtained continue to have high wear resistance and self-lubricating properties even under load. Used for mechanical parts under high temperatures in the aviation industry.
Electrical: Very good dielectric and insulating properties
Chemical: It has very good chemical resistance. It is used as cover gaskets and pump bodies.
Nuclear: Highly resistant to gamma radiation.
